Do you enjoy biking? Taking in the fresh air as the wind flows against your face? The thrill of speed and winding trails? Well, good news: the mountain biking season is quickly approaching as it starts off in May. With spring break, the SATs and prom running on a tight schedule, mountain biking season is closer than you think.

No previous experience is required to join the team led by head coach Greg Giles. BHS Mountain Biking has won at State Competitions eight times… so far! Quite the flex to be able to claim yourself as a part of that team.

There will be an informational meeting in the Media Center at 7:00 PM on 6 April 2022. Keep your eyes peeled for mountain biking posters around the school as well.

Practices run from May through the summer and races start in mid-August, ending in mid-October. There are six races over the course of the competition season.

The current races are 27-28 Aug. at Mid Michigan College, Harrison; 10-11 Sept. at Owasippe, Twin Lake; 17-18 Sept. at Bloomer Park, Rochester Hills; 24-25 Sept. at Heritage Park, Adrian; 08-09 Oct. at Merrell Trail, Rockford; and 15-16 Oct. at Lakeshore Park, Novi.

Captain and 2021 Varsity State Champion, Katie Droese (11) rushes down a curve with precision and skill.
