Blood Drive a Success

On Tuesday March 22 the American Red Cross and Brighton health occupations held a blood drive for staff and students to donate if eligible.

Posters filled the campus hallways and informational videos were included in the morning announcements. All 55 slots were filled within the first two days of sign up with dozens of students on the backup list.

“I want to participate because I see the posters everywhere and I think it would be awesome to get my blood drawn during school and I get to save someone’s life,” said Kayla Keeder, BHS senior

The drive took place in the BHS Field house where snacks and drinks were provided as well as a recovery station, wheelchairs and medical staff on standby.

“It was a great turnout and it makes me very happy that so many people were willing to donate and I’m very thankful for the American Red Cross for taking the time to do this as well,” said Brielle Haupt Brighton Health Occupations teacher.
